The Extremities Solution

Dedicated Immobilization for Hands, Arms, Legs, and Feet
Immobilizing the upper and lower extremities during radiation therapy can be challenging. Large setup errors, uncomfortable positions, and complicated immobilization setups can affect treatment accuracy and patient experience.
The Orfit Extremities Solution offers a focused approach for hands, arms, legs, and feet. It simplifies setup, increases reproducibility, and enhances comfort — all while ensuring optimal access for accurate treatment delivery.
Key
Benefits
- Reduces repositioning and setup errors
- Enables better access to tight treatment areas
- Provides excellent immobilization for small margins
- Increases comfort with tailored support cushions

Knee and Foot Immobilization
Lower extremities are positioned using a leg support that lifts one leg out of the treatment field. Foam cushions under the knee and heel increase patient comfort. Thermoplastic masks can be molded over the base plate or leg support for secure immobilization.

Arm and Hand Immobilization
Patients can be immobilized while lying down or sitting beside the couch. Thermoplastic masks are formed over the elbow and hand for reproducible positioning. Soft cushions are used under the arm to maintain comfort throughout the session.

Shoulder Immobilization
Arm is positioned alongside the body with a five-point shoulder mask. The base plate can be shifted off-center to improve access and flexibility. Left- and right-sided mask options are available.
Before using Orfit, our process for positioning patients for imaging and treatment on the extremities used to be a lot more complicated, involving several vacuum bags, custom cushions, and tape. With the Orfit device, our physicians have better access for tight posterior tumors. For us, it’s all about using the system that will ensure the most accurate treatment for the patients under our care.
